In a recent project at St Helen’s School in Northwood, T&B engaged with a local apprentice, Oliver Sansby, for a 30 week work placement.
Oliver, from Pinner, was helped into his T&B placement by the local Council, who assisted him through the appropriate training and courses to give him the qualifications he needed to support his career.
Mentored by T&B’s Project Manager, Colin Archer and Site Manager, Wayne Brewer, Oliver was keen to experience multiple trades by shadowing our staff and key supply-chain partners. He was tasked with ensuring the site was clean, tidy and safe for everyone accessing it, as well as assisting the bricklayers, electricians, carpenters and builders.
Oliver learnt various skills and trades during his placement and said “I loved being able to learn new skills. I particularly enjoyed going through building drawings with Wayne the site manager, and he helped me gain an understanding of what his job role entails.”
During his time at St Helen’s School, Oliver proved to be a valuable member of the site team and at the end of the project Oliver was offered full-time employment on T&B’s Management Trainee Programme. Oliver continues to develop his skills on our UCL Cruciform project where we’re refurbishing a Listed Building and, he has big hopes to further his career and knowledge in the construction industry.
